Hang Together or Hang Seperately... 2/11/2010 11:31:41 AM
I decided to hang a new web page for each of my books. I began with "Seeds of Wonder". First let me say I am by no means a web master, web programmer or that I can even spell HTML. Anyway, I use a yahoo site and their tool, sitebuilder.
Happily expecting great things I ran the test link in sitebuilder and viola' there was the subdomain just as I expected it! So I saved all the pages and published to the site. Then I came at the subdomain from an outside browser...disaster! Nothing but the bare wire frame and few menu items was visible.
I also had this difficulty when I tried it with my jewelry subdomain, that time I just edited the index page and pointed all the local positional references to global ( /images/mike.jpg to htp://www.scubamage.com/images/mike.jpg) and it sorta worked...well this time it didn't. Ok, email support.
Support says just drag and drop the html files into the subdirectory, don't use save-as, ya, right, how the heck is that going to change the internal references in the file?
Anyway, after getting the usual non-answer from a support group I figured just hang a minimal page (just the HEAD and END HEAD tags with a redirect that pointed to the seedsindex.html page on the main site. The seedsindex.html page in turn pointed to the other properly named files in the main directory, and this time, it worked.
