Spring snow storm can't bring me down! 3/23/2011 2:54:00 PM
The weather may be nasty, but my day is going great. Okay, so I woke this morning to 7 inches of heavy wet snow that of course needed to be shoveled. The kids had a 2 hour delay which threw my day off kilter slightly. BUT!!! I didn't care. Nope, not one little bit. Why? you may be asking. Because my new short novel Marauder released today.
I had fun writing this story. I love taking normal everyday things and twisting them a little. How many of you pass truckers on the road every single day. You know, those guys who haul all those lovely little items we absolutely must have at the stores where we rush in and grab them at our convenience? I happen to know many truck drivers and frankly think they get a raw deal from people.
So, when the opportunity arose to write a pirate story, I couldn't help but take modern day people who get overlooked and turn them into those hot, muscled, sexy men every woman dreams about in her secret fantasies. Oh, come on, you know you do. If you don't, well, sorry I guess.
Anyway, I would have liked to have made this a longer story, but the requirements didn't allow it.
Here's a secret for you. I started this story, dumped it, started it again and dumped it again. Finally all the elements fell into place the way I wanted.
Here's another secret. I didn't expect it to be accepted. There are so many great authors writing for Ellora's Cave that I didn't believe I stood a chance. Imagine my surprise when I was offered a contract.
The story wasn't set for release until June, but then I got an email saying the publisher was going to release it within the week. Oh boy, that got my blood pumping.
