Evidence points to a hacker in Russia who shut down the water system in a medium-size town in America. Yesterday on CNN, I was astonished to learn that a medium-size town in America's Midwest lost their water pressure. The whole town! When our trusty security techies investigated what happened, they traced a hacker to Russia (never underestimate the brilliance of Russians). It seems that he ASKED THE POWER COMPANY for the user name and password to the system, and some lame brain employee gave it to him! Didn't even ask for his mother's maiden name or where he went to high school.
Now that's pretty troubling, isn't it? Here in Hawaii, we would have people on the upper floors of our condos getting pretty stinky with no water. And brushing our teeth with ocean water would be weird, too. Most Japanese bathe twice a day. Would they be twice as upset over a water shut down?
Meanwhile, life in "paradise" would go on. We'd still have our ukuleles and guitars playing the mellow Hawaiian tunes. We'd still have our rush hour traffic jams. We'd still check the ads for the best deal on turkeys. And we'd still complain because the wind is blowing too strong, or not enough, or from the wrong direction. Got to have something to complain about, right?
