Partnership with the Universe -- a Synchronistic Event 5/3/2012 12:04:00 AM
As a writer, there have been a few times when writing came easily, almost like magic, and it seemed as though it came from somewhere outside of myself. Years ago, I was in that place. The creative energy flowed and the writing just came, like magic. It was a children's poem and, reading what I had written, its theme was different, so unlike what I normally write -- this poem was about a child angel talking to her parents from heaven. Though it was different, I had a "feeling" about it and included it in my first book.
Four years later, I had a three-day author school visit in Circleville, Ohio, several states away. Seven schools were bussed in to one central school and I did several presentations during each day.
A few weeks after, I got an email from the librarian at the main school with sad news. One of the second grade girls, Mackenzie, had been killed in an auto accident. The librarian wanted me to know that the little girl had loved the poem about the child in heaven. She carried my book everywhere and read the poem to everyone who would listen. She told them she was the angel in the poem, adding that she wasn't afraid to die.
After reading her email, I called and spoke with the librarian. She shared even more over the phone. She said Mackenzie's parents had the poem printed on pink paper and handed it to everyone who came to the funeral home as a remembrance of her.
I wrote to Mackenzie's parents and grandparents to express my sympathy. Then the magic continued when her mother called. She wanted me to know her daughter felt the poem had been written about her. She then asked permission for the family to have the poem etched on her cemetery stone. I told her nothing had ever touched me so personally and I thanked her -- I have never felt so humbled as I did at that moment.
I finally knew why, years earlier, I was somehow given the words to write the poem. There had been a higher purpose, a reason I was not privy to it at the time -- a true synchronicity revealing the magic within our awareness.
That is when I first began to feel how the universe works. We are all connected and the energy flows through us like a river. There is always a higher purpose to everything, even though we don't always know what that purpose is at the time; but we are aware, and have a sense, that everything is exactly as it should be, if we'll only feel the energy and allow it to guide us.
