Whether you’re the kind of Christian who spends the day pointing out the pagan origins of Easter, or one whose church sets aside the Word of God for the day in favor of Easter Egg Hunts and chocolate bunnies, or somewhere in between, I hope we can all enjoy remembering together our Lord’s resurrection.  

Setting aside all arguments about how accurately our calendar lines up with  the Jewish calendar of Christ’s time, I can’t think of a better time than spring to celebrate Jesus rising from the dead after the agonizing humiliation He endured for us, now resplendent in His victory over the grave. There are signs of new life everywhere - baby animals, little green sprouts emerging from the brown barrenness of winter, even the young girls in their pretty new clothes, and it all brings to mind the new life I have in me because our Savior defeated death! 

So many promises fulfilled  - life after death, beauty from ashes.  Mourning into dancing, darkness into light. The prospect of everlasting torment and misery in hell transformed into the hope of a glorious eternity with Him!   

Everything is new in Him! 

Hallelujah! Christ is risen indeed!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
