Poem Artwork

Poor poor little me, my life is such a mess.
I have so many problems, and I have a lot of stress.
I have a whopping toothache, I have a hole in my left shoe.
I have a broken washer, I have a bill that's overdue.
I have a cat with hairballs, I have fire ants in my yard.
Lord, I thought You loved me. Why is my life so hard?

I don't have a family, I don't have money in the bank,
I don't have a decent car, or even gas to fill my tank.
I don't have designer jeans, I don't have the perfect bod.
I don't have an MP3 player, I don't have a new I-pod.
I don't have so many things, sometimes I want to shout,
Lord, You're my Provider! Why must I go without?

Then my Father sat me down and told me to give more thought
To the things I really have, and the things that I have not.
I have a God Who loves me, Who is merciful and good,
I have a place in Heaven, bought by the precious Blood.
I have peace and joy in knowing that my future is so bright.
I have a Father Who will listen to my prayers day or night.

I don't have to be alone, because my Father's always there.
I don't have any problems He won't give me grace to bear.
I don't have a single sin accounted to my name
Because the sinless Son of God accepted all the blame.
I don't have all I want, but I have everything I need.
Forgive me, Lord, for whining, because I am blessed indeed!

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.(Colossians 3:2-3)

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
(Matthew 6:19-21)

We tend to forget to appreciate what we have and concentrate instead on what we don't. We all do that.

I wish I would have read this before I sent out my Thanksgiving poems. That's what happens when I try to be efficient!
I love the poem, and the picture is adorable. The Good News of salvation comes through loud and clear, too1

Having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true. Spock from Star Trek.

Most of the don't haves of this world are not necessary anyway. We can be perfectly happy without chasing all the rainbows and sticking to our real needs.

A wonderful prayer poem! I wrote a poem about being thankful for our arms and hands. We can focus on so many glorious miracles that He provides for us everyday. This indeed leaves me very grateful and happy. In turn I am able to cheer others on as well. Thankfulness and appreciation is just as catching as moaning and unappreciative groaning is. They also say it takes less effort to smile than to frown. So we were created to have joy in our hearts. It just that little devil that tries to steal away our joy but the Lord can provide eternal happiness which is so much more powerful than the lies from Lucifer. Amen!
