What’s the idea of confronting two primitive civilizations in planet Ircela? // ¿A quién se le ocurrió enfrentarse a dos civilizaciones primitivas en el planeta Ircela? // Why are they taking large contingents of soldiers? // ¿Por qué van acompañados de grandes contingentes de soldados? This is a review of the Eighth Chapter of “First Light / The Second Expedition” in the “Yah and the Space Cadets” series. Yah and the Space Cadets / First Light / The Second Expedition
Comment: The cadets have access to living 3D maps, but now, they also have access to living 2D maps. Either of these maps will show whatever is happening in the area shown. The Koyannins and the Ucaros are two semi-advanced civilizations.
Summary of Chapter 8 – Koyannins, Ucaros and Displays of Power
Ada, Yah and Sid demonstrate their recently discovered powers to the rest of the cadets. The raucous laughter of the cadets prompts d’Nor and Kuln to send them on a special bivouac expedition, during which they will only use their powers. They are cleverly chased by the Koyannins; some cadets were captured by later escaped. Ada scared the Ucaros who, after their confrontation with her, called the cave where she hid, the “Witch’s Lair.”
Excerpt: “Are there any civilizations there?” asked Ada.
“Yes,” answered the system.
“Well, can you tell us how many?” insisted Ada.
“Yes, there are two,” said the system.
“Is that all?” asked Ada.
“That’s all,” answered the system.
“What types of animals are there?” inquired Ada.
“There are many,” responded the system.
Ada looked at Yah and Sid, shook her head, and continued with, “Are some of them dangerous?” typed Ada.
“Most of them are dangerous,” answered the system.
“Are they large?” continued Ada.
“Some are large, some are medium and some are small,” said the system.

Esta es una reseña del Octavo Capítulo de «Luz Primera / La Segunda Expedición» de la serie «Yah y los Cadetes del Espacio». Este blog se publica semanalmente en inglés y español y consta de tres secciones breves: un comentario/glosario, un resumen y un extracto. Yah y los Cadetes del Espacio / Luz Primera / La Segunda Expedición
Comentario: Los cadetes tienen acceso a mapas vivos tridimensionales, pero ahora, también lo tendrán a mapas vivos bidimensionales. Cualquiera de estos mapas les dejará ver lo que está sucediendo en la zona mostrada. Los Koyannines y los Ucaros son dos civilizaciones semi-avanzadas.
Resumen del Capítulo 8 – Koyannines, Ucaros y Exhibición de Poderes
Ada, Yah y Sid les muestran al resto de los cadetes los poderes que descubrieron recientemente. La estridente risa de los cadetes impulsa a d’Nor y a Kuln a enviarlos en una expedición especial tipo campamento durante la cual sólo podrán usar sus poderes. Los Koyannines los persiguen sagazmente; algunos cadetes caen capturados pero escapan más tarde. Ada espanta a los Ucaros quienes, tras su confrontación con ella, llaman a la cueva donde se escondió: “la Guarida de la Bruja”.
Extracto: «¿Hay civilizaciones allí?» preguntó Ada.
«Sí», contestó el sistema.
«Bueno, ¿nos puedes decir cuántas?» insistió Ada.
«Sí, hay dos», dijo el sistema.
«¿Nada más?» preguntó Ada.
«Así es», contestó el sistema.
«¿Qué tipos de animales hay allí?» cuestionó Ada.
«Pues hay muchos», respondió el sistema.
Ada miró a Yah y a Sid, meneó la cabeza y continuó con: «¿Son peligrosos algunos de esos animales?» tecleó Ada.
«La mayoría son peligrosos», respondió el sistema.
«¿Son grandes de tamaño?» prosiguió Ada.
«Pues, algunos son grandes, algunos son medianos y algunos son pequeños», dijo el sistema.
