Smelt ores inside the “Audacious”? Not when you can have a lot more fun levitating and gliding from one end of the room to the other. This is a review of the Eleventh Chapter of “First Light / The Second Expedition” in the “Yah and the Space Cadets” series. This blog is published weekly in English and Spanish and is made up of three brief sections: a comment/glossary, a summary and an excerpt. We welcome your input and sincerely hope you enjoy our blog. Yah and the Space Cadets / First Light / The Second Expedition
Comment: In this chapter the word ‘flovy’ is used in the following phrase, “…it is like flying on a flovy but softer.” Flovy refers to an artifact that floats over icy terrain. These machines were used on Planet Ozen to catch ‘musical orbs from the future’ before the startup of the First Expedition.
Summary of Chapter 11 – Yes, Yes, Yes, and a Little Cheating Too
Yah, Ada and Sid realize that they do not have enough time to complete their project –the fishing boat with additional oars and floaters– so they ask the system to help them. They discover that the boat can be made back in Zorec by the robots of the Imperial Institute of Technology and teleported to their spaceship, the Audacious. Is this cheating? Yes.
Excerpt: “I thought you said there was a safer way of doing it,” retorted Ada.
“I said there was a SAFE way of doing it, not a SAFER way of doing it,” said the system.
“So… there is a way of doing it in a safe way, isn’t there?” asked Ada.
“Yes, but not inside the Audacious while traveling in deep space,” said the system.
“Where else can we do it? We are reaching the Eanono Wormhole in a few days time, so WHERE ELSE can we do it?” typed Ada clearly annoyed.
“In Zorec,” answered the system.
Ada, Sid and Yah looked at each other totally surprised by the system’s answer. Then Yah said to Ada, “Just continue.”
“Who is going to make our fishing boat with our safety oars and floaters if WE happen to be trillions of miles away from Zorec?” asked Ada.
“The robots at the Imperial Institute of Technology,” said the system.
“Don’t they have something else to do?” asked Ada flabbergasted.
“They have their daily chores but, they’ll be happy to lend you a hand. There’s nothing quite like helping cadets that bit a heck of a lot more than they could chew,” said the system with a laugh.

Ada sat down again before the screen and continued with, “Wouldn’t that be considered cheating?”
“Yes,” answered the system.
“Then, what’s the point of doing it?” asked Ada.
“The point is not getting caught,” said the system.

Yah y los Cadetes del Espacio / Luz Primera / La Segunda Expedición
Comentario: En este capítulo se usa la palabra ‘Flosiel’ en la siguiente frase: «… es como volar en un flosiel pero más suave». Flosiel se refiere a un artefacto que flota por encima de los terrenos glaciares. Estas máquinas se usaron en el planeta Ozen para recolectar ‘orbes musicales del futuro’ antes de iniciarse la Primera Expedición.
Resumen del Capítulo 11 – Sí, Sí, Sí, y hasta un Poco de Chapuza
Yah, Ada y Sid se dan cuenta de que no tienen tiempo suficiente para terminar su proyecto – el barco pesquero con remos y flotadores adicionales – de manera que le piden ayuda al sistema. Descubren que el barco se puede hacer en Zorec por los robots del Instituto Imperial de Tecnología y ser teletransportado a su nave espacial, la Audaz. ¿Es esto una chapuza? Sí.
Extracto: «Pensé que dijiste que había una forma más segura de hacerlo», replicó Ada.
«Dije que había una forma SEGURA de hacerlo, no una forma MÁS SEGURA de hacerlo», dijo el sistema.
«Bueno… entonces sí se puede hacer en forma segura, ¿no es así?» preguntó Ada.
«Sí, pero no en el interior de la Audaz mientras se viaja por el espacio profundo», dijo el sistema.
«¿En dónde más lo podemos hacer? Estamos por llegar al agujero de gusano Eanono en unos cuantos días, de manera que ¿EN DÓNDE MÁS lo podemos hacer?» tecleó Ada, obviamente molesta.
«En Zorec», contestó el sistema.
Ada, Sid y Yah se miraron entre sí completamente sorprendidos por la respuesta del sistema. Entonces Yah le dijo a Ada: «continúa».
«¿Quién va a hacer nuestro barco pesquero con nuestros remos y flotadores de seguridad si sucede que NOSOTROS estamos a billones de kilómetros de distancia de Zorec?» preguntó Ada.
«Los robots en el Instituto Imperial de Tecnología», dijo el sistema.
«¿No tienen otra que hacer?» preguntó Ada estupefacta.
«Pues tienen sus quehaceres diarios pero, les daría mucho gusto echarles la mano. No hay nada tan complaciente como ayudar a cadetes que abarcaron mucho más de lo que pueden apretar», dijo el sistema con una risa burlona.

Ada se sentó nuevamente frente a la pantalla y preguntó: «¿No se consideraría eso como una chapuza?»
«Sí», contestó el sistema.
«Entonces, ¿cuál es el chiste de hacerlo?» Ada preguntó.
«El chiste es que no te agarren», dijo el sistema.
