Writing Characters from Generations Past 8/13/2013 12:24:35 PM
Although I write characters in several genres, I especially like the challenge of writing historical fiction and period pieces. Bringing to life people from generations gone by requires research. It's not just about getting the descriptions of their clothes and their vehicles right. It's also about getting their outlook on life and their attitudes right. "The Immigrants" in my short story collection The Hospitality Connection and "The Shipyard" in my short story collection The Patriotic Connection - Life and Love in the Forties are good examples of the challenge of writing about people from generations past.
