Fun in the Sun (it's never too late to ruin this for dear ole dad) 6/27/2015 8:21:00 AM
A humorous look at the family summer vacation The summer vacation season is upon us (I forget what actual season this falls under, but no matter), and isn’t that fun?
Fun in the sun (blistering) while you sit in your car (possibly moving – you feel lucky?) in traffic.
Fun trying to navigate the roads, many of which are under construction and many more which need to be, only to wait in traffic or get detoured or leave parts of your car scattered behind you as you drive around hopelessly lost either in the middle of nowhere or in the middle of nowhere good, sometimes in the middle of the day and always in the middle of the night.
Fun retreating from the road to bliss (the bliss comes from the retreat).
Fun watching the rain fall from the beach house you rented or dealing w/ relatives while trying to relax and lose some of the stress you have built up from your daily life and particularly your little getaway.
Fun listening to the children argue from one end of the trip to the other and continuously ponder the eternal question of whether or not they are ‘there’ yet, even when they are and have been so for a week.
Fun returning to the workplace which you weren’t in love with before you left and utterly despise after having had more than a weekend away from it so that you can continue to pay to occasionally play at chilling out with the knowledge that retirement isn’t yet in view.
Fun, fun, fun, so much fun.

I know, that’s a lot of work just to get something for nothing, but it’s the best that I could do.

- More twists and turns than a rollercoaster designed by a deranged lunatic.
- I never saw the end coming until it hit me in the face!
- The darkest love story I ever read! Maybe the darkest book period.
- It took me to an uncomfortable place that wrapped itself around me like a heavy blanket on a hot night and stranded me there!
- I felt compelled to finish it before going to sleep and wound up wishing that I had saved the final chapter for morning. Definitely a book to be read in the light of day – should make for a good summer read.
