Saint Lawrence was martyred by Emperor Valerian in 258 AD. The emperor must have been really pissed off about something because he had Larry tied to an iron gridiron and grilled alive. It is alleged that Larry's last words were, "I think I'm done on this side; you can turn me over now." Perhaps as a consequence of this gruesome death, Larry is supposedly considered to be the Patron Saint of chefs. Repeated attempts to contact Gordon Ramsay for confirmation of this have failed. I may continue those efforts or...I may not.
