Summary

In the town of Thibodaux, Louisiana, four close friends since high school gather to help Pencey Boudreaux with a family problem, and as they talk, memories make them aware that they have all been the target of controlling people in their families; a common thread in every home. Pencey, Laura Lee, Annie and Ida Mae soon find out the hard way that Jane, Pencey’s albatross, wears two masks; a sweet and innocent mask, and a sadistic, dark mask that none of them knew existed. Three of the four have walked away and let go of their albatross. Will Pencey let go of Jane's control over her and walk away, or will she stay and continue to be bullied by her?
