Having listened with rapt attention to D.J. Trump’s inaugural address I must confess to being sorely disappointed. I had such lofty expectations. “Make America Great Again’, uh? His surprising election as President of the United States was preceded only a week earlier by one of the greatest American triumphs in more than a century and, yet, The Donald neglected to mention it. Perhaps, those people are correct who allege that the man has been cloistered in some kind of alternative universe…a solipsistic bubble...haven't a clue what that means but, I'm a sucker for four sylable words. (People say they make me sound erudite...whatever that means.) Well, Mr. President, allow me to burst that bubble…the Chicago Cubs won The World Series! And, that may very well have paved the way for your victory. The last time the Cubbies won a World Series the iceberg which sunk the mighty Titanic wasn’t big enough to make a decent scotch on the rocks. The last time a non-politician, non-military general was elected President of the United States…well, except for you on the 8^th of November 2016, there wasn’t a last time. The Cubbies redeemed the glory of Chicago from the sordid ignominy of Al Capone and Jesse Jackson. They demonstrated that Chicagoans can produce winners; not just losers parading as racist, rock stars and disingenuous sexist U.S. Presidential candidates. As a committed Libertarian, I would never support a political candidate like you. Still, considering the alternative, your victory is encouraging and I wish you all the best.      

       Your supporters admire you for your developments. So do I. Of course, you had your failures. Then again, I’m not aware of any successful person who didn’t learn to cope with and overcome failure. It’s not the condos, hotels, casinos, resorts and golf courses for which I admire you. Your children are your greatest developments and for which I respect you the most. I will never achieve what you have in the business world…I’ve never aspired to do so and probably would have failed if I had. However, as the proud father of a young daughter (Bailey), I am devoted to raising her as a happy and decent human being. Fortunately, she has a wonderful mother who has and will continue to compensate for the inadequacies of Bailey’s father.

Again, I did not support you for President of the United States but, I wish you all the best and implore you to acknowledge and find some inspiration in the Human triumph and American greatness exemplified by the Chicago Cubs.
