Lack of unified Global effort caused unnecessary suffering and deaths. In my blog on May 11 2020 I indicated that a global effort was needed to eliminate Covid19. At that time according to worldometers.info/coronavirus there were approximately 4.2 Million total cases and 294 000 deaths globally. Today we are at 45.3 Million cases and 1.185 Million deaths globally.
If we had a global effort with a one or two month lockdown with clusters identified and treated today we would have no cases and no more deaths. If nobody is infected there can be no more human to human transmission and that is far better than any vaccine. Now we have an out of control virus. Even if we got vaccines and if there are mutations of the coronavirus then we will continue to have this virus in its different forms that will continue to infect human kind; a multi billion dollar bonanza for the pharmaceuticals. Unnecessary infections and suffering will be the result. Long term symptoms may persist for those that survive. The majority of all populations depending on paychecks will have to work and the richest (the minority) will get richer.
If there was global co-operation and governments had covered two months of working class and business earnings today we would have been at a better place globally and the cost (in currency, suffering, deaths, coronavirus fatigue, first responders frustration and fatigue, loss of businesses and jobs, environmental damage, etc) would have been a lot lower than it will be now.
Now I want you to imagine an alien species from space landing on Earth and incubating in humans and killing us. This enemy can be seen unlike the corona virus. Would each country and its sub-states fight the aliens on their own. I think not. A global effort would take place to destroy the aliens. We should look at the coronavirus in the same way. We still have a chance to lockdown, isolate, treat and eliminate the virus for good. We don't need mutations, endless vaccinations, treatments and medications. The leaders of the world need to wake up and work together for the good of all humanity.
A little about resistance to vaccinations:
If we don't have global compliance taking a vaccine that guarantees elimination of the coronavirus then the effort fails. One reason why people may not trust pharmaceuticals/vaccine/treatments may be because of what we see in ads on the TV. The pharmaceutical industry is trying to be transparent about the risks of taking particular drugs. Heavy advertising and doctor pressure to take these new drugs has caused new resistance to take them. This is just an example: You take a drug for a skin affliction and it may cause your kidneys to fail, your blood pressure to go up, and you might die from other complications. A logical person would ask why take the treatment for one ailment when it may cause other ailments for which you'll need more drugs. Hence there is a population that does not trust taking vaccines.
