Proof God Has a Sense of Humor

Adoration of the Lord always provides Grace
In Spring 2005, I attended my Cursillo weekend
That Autumn, I found myself at the adoration chapel in the middle of the night, praying for the next group of attendees
I was alone deep in prayer, when I smelled roses
I noticed the air conditioner was running, and assigned the rose odor to outdoor air making its way in
There were probably rose bushes outside the chapel, I thought to myself
Realizing the association of Mother Mary and roses, I awaited the ceasing of the air conditioner cycle
On cue, it stopped and so did the rose scent
I thought that if the smell returns at the next cycle, I can be sure of a natural explanation
Next cycle, no roses
Instead the smell of sawdust, quickly followed by furniture polish
I looked up at the altar
On one side, a statue of Mary, on the other St Joseph, the carpenter
