Blogs by Carol M Tetlow Counting birds, not sheep 4/30/2023 6:32:06 AMLaughing all day long. Well I have to because otherwise I'd go into a corner, curl up in a ball and cry. My first match of the season is promotion, to the first team (who'd have thought it?) but we're playing a team that always wins the division because their players are not simply a level above us but many levels above us. I played against them at the end of last season and their team consisted of some remarkably talented youngsters who made mincemeat of us and didn't so much as break out into a sweat. But then nor did they smile, or look as if they were happy, or even accept our congratulations in a sporting way. So sad. Anyway, their reputation precedes them and I think this is why the usual members of the first team have scattered to the four corners of the world in order to avoid the ritual humiliation. From my point of view, I'm not bothered. I have no expectations of glory, so I can hopefully just relax and enjoy my game. Afterwards, I will diplomatically have forgotten the score if anyone asks me!
