How the Lord Set Me Straight Mothers Day
For the longest time, I dreaded Mother’s Day. You see, I was expecting too much from my children. My husband and I are the proud parents of six adult children. We also have four growing grandsons. We love them all and they are all unique.
But to expect to just be completely blown away by them every Mother’s Day, was just unfair. I also have a mother and a mother-in-law. Two of our children have mothers-in-law. So I decided to just focus on visiting my mom this year. We don’t know how much time we still have with her.
Mom is loving and selfless, kind, and giving, and has a great sense of humor. She loves to read and has passed that love to me and many of her grandchildren. She makes it enjoyable to visit and spend time with her. Being in a nursing home for good and needing help with just about everything, I am sure could get you down, but she is content. Due to the side effects of glaucoma, Mom is losing her eyesight. Thank the Lord for access to books on CD to listen to. A complete lifesaver.
I don't know if you are grateful, sorrowful, or have your share of regrets this Mother's Day but how you celebrate it is up to you. We can be grateful and thank our Moms for carrying us, loving us, and meeting our needs. We can make it all about us. Or we can serve others, encourage younger moms, and most of all honor our moms while we still have them. What will you do?
