My Entitled Dog – Ginger’s Year End’s Rant

Ginger gets the last word, as every entitled person does, even though she is a dog.
Hello to all,

It’s been a few months since there was an update from our family dog. Being an entitled dog, she feels her story can only be told from her perspective. So, without further ado:

It’s been a miserable year. Dad is not only still breaking cookies in half. Lately, he only pretends to have a cookie as proper payment for my last pee-pee. I urge millions of adoring fans to get him to stop breaking my cookies and ensure he delivers this treat every night.

This past Christmas season was the worst of all time. They often left the house, leaving me home alone. Don’t they know the house queen should accompany them wherever they go? Mom and Dad left early Saturday morning and didn’t return until after dinner time. Luckily, I was able to persuade my human sister to feed me. I nearly starved to death before she scooped out the kibbles for my bowl. They drove off again the next day without me for half the day.

On Christmas Eve, Mom and Dad drove off and didn’t return until after dark. I was so worried that I could barely eat my dinner that night. Then, they all gathered in the family to watch Christmas Vacation. The laughter, chortles, and comments ignored my attempts for attention. I even brought a ball to them, and no one would play with me. They snickered as I mourned my sorrow. Don’t they know I am the center of all attention?

Christmas day was no better. I could smell treats in the air but was told I had to wait until my sister got up. After two hours of misery, we finally had a gift opening. Mom threw my present in front of me like I was a peasant. I had to tear at it to get the paper off. My despicable family laughed at me while refusing to help. They forgot I do not have opposable thumbs to grab, so I ripped at it with my claws and teeth. It finely opened to find twelve tiny treats encased in plastic. Mom called me a piggy for eating two weeks of goodies in less than five minutes.

I read this to Ginger, who nodded approvingly of the above statements. We hope everyone had a loving and peaceful Christmas. Here is to a grace-filled New Year.
