In relationship to our government, we need to think of ourselves more like shareholders in a corporation than like trusting sheep needing shepherding. The government works for us. They are legislating with OUR MONEY! We have every right and indeed responsibility to question them and to be heard by them. Do not accept what they throw our way without question and assume that they are looking out for you, personally, and all of us, as if they were benevolent deities instead of public servants. Blind faith has no place in government dealings.

I don't think anyone would say that they are against "healthcare reform" - what people oppose are the specific bills that are being forced through! Bills of unprecedented volume forced through in unprecedented timeframes. Like I said, if it were as simple as giving insurance to the poor, why didn't they just do that when there were billions of dollars to throw around? Billions that were essentially wasted because they did nothing to help the economy. Why are people going to have to wait years before seeing any benefit at all if this bill goes through? They are playing with our money, doctoring up their dollars so it looks better when they stick taxpayers with the trillion dollar bill for all of us. Taxes will go up on every imaginable thing they can find in order to make this bill look less expensive, but guess who gets stuck with paying for it - you and me, as always. Don't be too trusting. It is important to understand this! It is not as simple as 'us vs. them' or 'poor vs. not poor'. The idea that 'anything is better than nothing' is simply not true. There has to be a better way than what the people in Washington are currently proposing. Call and ask them to come up with a better solution!

The change that is good for Americans cannot happen without legislation. Please call your Senators and tell them to support the people by voting for Health Care Reform.

Strangely, this really is not about people who don't have insurance. It is about power and government corruption. If it were only about helping the poor, couldn't that have been accomplished by throwing some of those billions of stimulus dollars toward those people who need coverage? Why make them wait 4 or 5 years to get that help they so desperately need? It's hard to believe, because we want to think the best of people and their intentions, but this is about politics, not about helping anyone. Not really.

Obviously you have had excellent healthcare with your current insurance plan or plans for a long time perhaps. If that is the case, wonderful for you. How many millions out there do you think there are without such TLC? Many, I assure you. |
