"Sacrifice"

I like the subject of your blog post, Christine. I especially respect this aspect of your excellently-expressed vision of sacrifice: "What might seem a trivial sacrifice to some is desperately consuming to others." And, in light of this truth, I believe it harsh to judge another's level of sacrifice ability. A mother may let her toddler's sleeping body rest on the mother's arm until needle nerves are screaming, and a million chores awaiting, and yet stay nonetheless because her sick child needs sleep. A different mother could not tolerate remaining stationary that long, for there are a million chores and a finally-sleeping child. Neither mother is right/wrong. Every sacrifice is an exchange. Good piece of provocative subject here. ~~ Diana

To be selfless, as to 'sacrifice' is giving of one, rewards come in many forms as miraculous ones that only that person can really feel and know...so much to think about Christine, you rock :) wish we could sit on a patio and have a coffee together!

awesome write. I know many parents who have gone above and beyond to help their children. Its an amazing thing. This example you used more than adequately demonstrated you idea and brought it to light so clearly. Enjoyed this.

Thoughtfully constructed, touching, and quite logically apprehended in this mind, CT. I can imagine that you (as a cello player now) found that organ quite challenging. Creatively your heart is a deep pure well. Keep bucketing up water. It keeps the garden alive and burgeoning. Peace and love ... rlc

So beautifully and tenderly told. One has to read your blog over several times to appreciate the depth within. I especially enjoyed hearing about your father and his musical addition to your home. No need to buy another, the older musical piece is just fine. He and your mother both sacrificed to send their children to school and isn't that what parents and sacrificing is all about? Wonderful, wonderful blog!!

I am grateful that you brought the poets, musicians, and artists into the mix as people who sacrifice. I never looked up in in that way, quite honestly, but I can see your point, and you are correct, those of us who try, through our words or our music, to communicate with others are sacrificing our talent hopefully to help others that they may read, or listen and say . . . I am not alone.

For most of my life, Christine, as you know, you read the book, I was very self centered because of whatever demon I had chasing me that particular day. I have fought against those demons and hope that I have finally, at last, and forever, destroyed the myriad of demons and are now, even at this last date, giving something back through my poetry, and yes, even my novels, gritty though they may be. The good guys always win in the end.

It was good to see your name as one who was posting today.
