A very gracious, sensitive write, Christine. Tender honesty like this is the antidote to input that has the potential to form a 'shell' around open souls such as yours....writing it.....and reading it. Thank you ~~ Diana
Hope the plantation was fun as well, and I am sure they were with you. ~ Morgan
Dear Christine,
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving through all the tears. I am thankful for sincere people like you. So many put on the ritz or talk among the clouds. However, on Thanksgiving I think most folks remember the small things that mean so much. My dad was a singer (tenor) and my mom sang right along with him at the dinner table. We are talking about singing everyday Christine at every evening meal! My sister and I used to giggle about it because it was kinda corny. What I would do to hear those voices sing to me today. I miss those times, it was like hearing songs from Broadway shows(we live in NYC) right at our dinner table. They had GREAT voices but when they sang as a duet it so sweet. The memories from those times are very precious. We must be thankful to have them.
I enjoyed your blog very much. You are a sensitive and a caring young lady. Your mom and dad are smiling down on you because they know they rased a very special daughter.
God Bless You and keep you well. Peace, love and abundant blessings,
John Michael
We alternated Thanksgivings with uncles and aunts. That meant lots of food, games and indoor/outdoor fun with cousins.
My Aunt Orpha would gather us around the piano and we'd sing many songs. We did very well for having no practice--Uncle Dave sang for many years with the Rochester [Minnesota] Men's Choir.
We never had a bad T-Day, and I still don't, even if mine was alone today.

Would that I had the background you've had, Christine. Even so, not all of it was bad, I don't mean to infer that it was. Reading my memoir one might imagine my past was horrible every single day, and it just wasn't so. There was laughter and happiness, although that was tempered with the constant threat of what could, and likely would happen before the day was over. I think I should have just not committed on this blog, because try as hard as I can, I have a difficult time being thankful of the past. I am, however, thankful of the now and the few friends I have made here at AD and pother places. I had thanksgiving alone this year, but that does not depress me. I am thankful for what I have derived out of a life spent with not much of an eye on the future. envy your obvious love of family, Christine.
Christine, I believe that we all must find our way from childhood into adulthood and onto middle then older age. You and I were both fortunate to have nurturing caring parents... Mine not musical in the least, but good parents and good people... That is all we can wish for our own children, to ultimately be good people and good parents. May your tears dry on this the first Thanksgiving without your dear parents.
In fondness for the person you are and the words you write; Mark
