Although not a single soul should have to endure this lifestyle growing up, it does form who we are. You are a strong soul Dark or you would not have had to go through this. It is part of growing spiritually...
You do make an interesting statement, wishing you were Prostestant instead of Catholic... Since your family assumed if you were not Catholic you would end up in "Hell" - I think in your little mind you already were... therefore, why not be prostestant... Just an observation...
But, again your life made you who you are and you are a good soul. You have compassion and understanding through experience.
