sometimes late at night... 4/20/2013 8:29:17 AM
...when the stars are out and the air is still I think a horrible thought I am sure to the minds of many. I wish sometimes that I had been raised by different parents. The ones I was raised by used to argue fight, curse and swear-they never owned a car and were often giving me the impression that life there was like sleeping in a mine field.
I saw my father beat my Mother when I was 8 yrs old.My Brother was told to leave the protestant Boy Scouts as our Father said they were NOT CATHOLIC.--he was told he could join the Catholic wing of the Boy scouts to which he said
" No they are no fun at all"--Any disagreement with this was usually met with a hard slap across the face by our Dad. I was never hugged or told I was loved by my parents. I never wrote down a single poem or story. I kept my opinions to myself. My parents drank and smoked like chimneys --our opinions weer laughed at even referred to at times as Stupid by our Father-he seemed happy when he was drinking or smoking. I avoided him a lot after he beat my mother.
I often wished I had been raised Protestant as it seemed Roman Catholics condemned people a lot to hell who were not Catholics. I was not allowed to read the Bible as my father said that Monk Martin Luther read it--got his mind all screwed up and started the protestant Reformation-the message from him was -Don't read That Book!
My parents were poor--Mother was a stay at home wife and Mother.I studied often at a library or late after school
Sometimes I even wondered if my parents had been Billy and Ruth Graham if that would have been better but when I read about Franklin Graham's side(being the oldest son) I changed my mind
Still I wished that I had not seen what I had seen as a young boy--I just wanted to be Happy--I still do and hope I die happy.I love to be Creative and use the gift of writing to achieve the dreams God has stored up for me.Sometimes when I look in a mirror I still see that 8 yr old child, the back screen door banging and my soul longing for a dream filled life and that is not news BUT that too is Reality
