Paula Deen has apologized for using the N word and she is wise to do so but the fact still remains is that which one of us even here on the Den has used at times similar words to cut someone down in order to justify our behavior? I am white but even I have been treated at times as less than human by black people and even other races simply for my skin color. Did anyone jump out of the politically correct forest and say
" hey you are being a Racist for treating that white person that way!"
of course not--I have been laughed at and had those of different races laugh at me and when I have commented that I didn't like their rudeness the reply I often got ranged from
" Who cares what you think?"--" too Bad ' or a look that said
I am thinking like Sesame street and the letters F and U
Or is it that being white it is ok to criticize me but for a non-white to do it to me-well that's not being Racist and if I think that way well then DK you are just being silly
A racist is anyone putting down someone for their race, creed or color
As for Paula Deen and even the companies distancing themselves from her even tho she has apologized I wonder how the world of movie stars would react if by every stupid thing that is said by them would result in a verbal backlash and no one showing up to see their movies?
Or when Wal-Mart does something dumb-and they are not perfect-lets get that out into the open- people said
" that's it--even tho they have said they are sorry--we are going to shop elsewhere "
????? to me the whole thing with Paula Deen is stupid
is forgiveness for real anymore?--When people say they are sorry and apologize do we hound them to their graves-destroy their careers?
It makes me wonder what sort of belief system these politically correct individuals must have?
I only know I hope they are not passing out free samples--as I will forever pass on their wealth of
" wisdom "
it that makes me a racist in their minds-well they would have a hard time believing that if they knew the real me apart from the Den
