I guess I am getting to the age where little impresses me anymore and nowhere is this more evident than with credit cards.It doesn't matter how cute the card looks or the amount of information you get with the credit card agreement in the " legalese "language which is never simple and I suspect has more legal minefields than people realize.There is nothing cute about the high interest rates on these cards either.I know the ads say how
" easy and fast " they are--just give the card and you can leave with your purchases. With all the hype for the cards one would think the credit card companies would love a customer who pays off their bills. First they tell you to get the card then go buy and enjoy yourself-before I know it they want me to pay the bill off or a small amount-the smaller the better and the longer it takes to pay it off even more wonderful news-all that extra interest piled high on the card.
Sometimes the credit card companies offer incentives to spend even more| make a purchase in the next 30 days and you could win $10,000.00 or a stereo system or etc etc
The problem is no one ever knows anybody who ever won the Grand prize-maybe it was never given out. Maybe with all of the slick packaging it was a form of cheap advertising--we spend-the companies get more money and when you ask " well who won the amount you advertise as a win?"-you either get a " somebody in such and such an area won--but nobody knows the name-no name was ever published..."
The credit card company seemed to think of me as a bit weird as I often wanted to pay my bills off in time. Even a week ago I received a credit card statement saying I owed
" -17 cents"
not sure what a minus 17 cents looks like--I stopped using their card 2 years ago.
Maybe I kept their lights going with the interest I used to pay??
These days I don't use a Credit card---just not into buying things I don't need with money I don't have and that is not news BUT that too is Reality.
