Of course I agree with Gabriel's comments on this, and also I'd like to add that very often online (as in many places) people just like to be clever and don't really care too much about what they're saying. Also, it is possible that since you obviously have a faith element to your writing, then this attack could be in some way motivated by a dislike of that? Of course some criticism is genuine, and yes we all need a thick skin at times. Please don't be put off, and keep up the good fight!

Hi Elizabeth. Don't be too discouraged. Although you would think it would be the opposite, I think people who don't pay for their books may be quicker to be harsh than actual buyers. Maybe it's the mentality which says they don't have to pay for things, so they don't respect the effort the writer put into their work. I got Avery sarcastic comment by someone who downloaded a free copy of one of my books, along the lines of he got his money's worth. You still have a large majority of positive reviews, and these should never be taken for granted. |
