Thanks for your post. I am new at this game, but have noticed that there are a ton of books out there for .99 and I have to wonder how much work went it their book. All of my work is 300+ pages, so I can never see myself selling things for such a low price.

I have found the same remarks, the prices for E-Books vary greatly.
Most websites for Self-Publishing I've read said that for the sake of Getting Published and sell books we have to either make them 'Free for 5 Days' or something along those lines or publish them for the 99 cents!!! When you consider that most distributors charge at least 10 percent commission than 99 cents is what you get for every E-Book sold at $9.99 USD.
With others offering starting authors a deal of 30% to 70% (though the latter is for those books at $20USD) they are basically telling us (the unpublished authors) to give away our precious hard work (all those nightly hours spend writing comes to mind!) what on Earth is 30% of 99 cents or even my preferred currency, 30% of 1 GBP hey?
Mere peanuts barely a drop of oil and not the crude kind so I agree with you that an average of £2.99 to £3.99 is about correct and if done by yourself - therefore every penny of those amounts are yours free and clear - here's hoping that we see those pennies (or cents) coming in hard and fast yes?
