That was quite a storm overall, and those big intense ones have little vortexes that can be only a street wide - I had one in Hurricane Charley, August 13, 2004 that did the same thing. I was on the porch Hurricane watching when the little twister ran right down our boulevard and took the trees along the sidewalk with it, but left our house thankfully untouched. Not so lucky for the neighbor across the street. The vortex cut across at a slight angle to the main road and he got his roof nipped.
Yep, you were lucky!

Sounds like our weather here in Texas; but as StormSpinner said, "I didn't dood it!" I didn't dood it either; I didn't want to send tornadoes up y'all's way!! LOL WOW! And you SLEPT through the tornado!! LOL WILD!! I wouldn't be as blessed as you; I'd be freakin' out, screamin, "Make it staaaaaaaaaaawp!!" LOL I don't do storms, especially severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds, floodin' rains, and esPECially T O R N A D O E S!!!! GAD!!

And we hide in our teeny tiny claustrophic half bath. Our tub's upstairs. You get two disabled fat chicks in there, there's NO ROOM for a mattress! LOL Whatawaytomakealivin'....LOL

Great story Amber, I had one myself the other day in my back yard and I now have a forty foot Birch tree as a fixture across my back deck.

Don't blame the StormSpinner, I didn't dood it. LOL

So much for tornadoes sounding like jets taking off, or airplanes: they each have a distinct, unforgettable sound. Once you hear one, you'll always remember.

The one that took my roof off in '96? Never heard it: just heard the "WHOMP!!!" when the roof went. The sirens, oh, boy, who could miss 'em, but the twister? Phoo. It popped that roof off like it was nothing! And here I was, in the bathtub, going, "I wish I had a basement!!!!" Can I move up to Connecticut? Do you even have a basement? Karen and I won't take up too much room. LOL (kidding) But oh, what I'd give to HAVE underground shelter!!!! LOL

Take care, stay safe, turn around, don't drown. Keep an eye on those floodwaters, they kill more people than tornadoes and hurricanes COMBINED. 'k?
