I think even with Alzheimers some of what we read remains, because towards the end my Grandma had Dementia, but she never lost her love for books, that is why I am a bookaholic, Little Women is one of my all time favorites, a great blog, thank you

MMM.... Books are powerful things, like administering vitamins to an ailing brain. We have several thousand but gave away just as many to the University and the Library. I never read a book from cover to cover til I was 20 years of age but poured over the dictionary, and a set of medical encyclopedia. Now I've read many thousands and wish others the same delight.
I was exposed to books all my life, but what got my curiosity in my fathers library was Reader's Digest and from there there were books books books.
I probably have read more books in a year that a common man in a life-time.
To comic magazines we were never exposed, so, I can't comment about them.
I have a library down to 600 books from 2000, which I have donated to schools and small towns libraries.
Books are good, they will never hurt you.
