Hi Cynthia, I learned this weekend that if you get quiet, place your attention on your heart and be grateful that you will then hear from the God consciousness. God can speak to us in between our thoughts when we are grateful. Be grateful that your father is concerned about your well-being and wants you to be able to eat and be happy. Personally, I think you can do both. Write and work at something that pays the bills in the meantime.

Hi Kathryn-
Thanks for that comment- he was really a war correspondent and intelligence reporter in World War II - that's where I got the genes for the writing bug! then he later became contributing editor of "The Daily Mirror" and "The Manila Chronicle" after the war, writing during the wee hours of the morning, and teaching Economics at a university during the day. Writing does not make one rich, but it enriches one's life! He knows the hardship but understands the passion for it. He's out of the hospital.

Why do we write? Because we breath it---it's become part of who we are. I would rather write than eat. In fact--I was in the emergency room over the weekend because I did just that. I became dehydrated, but I did finish my manuscript!
Don't you ever think about not writing, Cynthia----you are a talented, gifted writer.

I'm glad she didn't listen to her parent either---
in this case your Father is wrong, bless his heart---but he is wrong.
You keep writing and millions of us will keep reading and being encouraged by what you write!

The pen is mightier than the Sword. Follow your passion! God put it there. You are touching more souls than you know. You got me thinking quite a bit with some of your poems - especially the one about pride. God bless, Susan
