"Chill Baby!"

Linda:
After reading the hell you have been through, it sounds more like a "just" settlement than a "dream", and it's well-deserved. But there is a message here. You walked through the dark valley for too many years and it sounds like you never gave up hope. That mountaintop must be very special for you. This is something we can all learn from when we whine and complain over trivialities. There is always someone out there that has it much worse! I look forward to reading your postings.
Terry
I used to tell my children, "If you work toward your goals you can make your dreams come true." (I think I heard it from Thumper). It has, however, proven true in many ways.
I always dreamed of living on a mountain top, and today I am doing it. The Lessons From the Mountaintop are about to become a series for me. (I will post most of it in the den.)
More importantly, I have spent a lifetime recovering from the after-effects of violent abuse which I expereined since my earliest years--and now I have the opportunity through my writing to make a difference.
Making that difference for other children who may suffer as I did--that is my dream.
Your dream is your gift. Don't walk away from it too long before you lose it completely. Like any thing in life creating art, it requires constant use, practice.
Don't give up on it, it hasn't given up on you. And you know your dream and that is what makes you the happiest--singing!

Hi Terry,
You are so right in your observations of our society. We all like the "perks" that come with it, but it does take up a lot of valuable time that could be used to have a conversation with someone, to listen to a bird sing, take more walks and explore the things that God created with a child or grandchild. The children of today, unfortunately, won't know the fun of jumping rope, making mud pancakes, playing more games with friends during the summer, instead of everything being with the T.V., computers, texting, etc. The memories of swinging on the porch with a grandmother or parent, snaping beans for dinner. So many things that aren't done anymore. It's really sad, but yes we do enjoy our computers and gadgets, I'm as guilty as you. We do learn things quicker because of them, but sadly, I think we do lose out on the art of communication with others and I believe that alone will give you the most important memories to look back on later in your life.
I don't think it's to late for your journey at all. You've already shown that your on the way to realizing your dream and all of us on here who have watched what you have done, can see that it's possible. You are going to make your dreams come true and if not totally, at least enough to know the satisfaction of getting most of your dream fulfilled. Something is better than nothing! So keep plugging along, don't give up and pretty soon, we'll be saying, "That we knew you when".
I hope it's not to late for mine either, particually since I'm not sure anymore what it is? It use to be to do more singing for the elderly, now my path seems to have changed and I'm not sure where my life is going. I hope that I get a "sign" someday to tell me.
