The coffee group is easy to start. Start with a couple of close by friends and/or neighbors. I make a pot of regular coffee and a pot of flavored coffee. One thing to remember, make sure you use the same pot for the flavored coffee or your regular coffee will end up having a flavor. If you cook, make up a simple dish to serve. If you don't pick something up from the store or bakery. During the warm months we sit out on the patio. In colder months or rain we come inside. We talk about everything from kids, parents, cooking, politics, books, anything that pops up. And the swap was like icing on the cake. This can also be done in a rotation. I have been doing this for 2 years now and due to my book being a cookbook I always have the group here so they can try my new recipes. Give it a try.

I live in a condo that's made up mostly of semi-retired/retired. There are a few rental units here that have children but most of us are in our 50s & 60s. I love it! Plus, we have all downsized to smaller living quarters and since everyone has a large attic in their condo we brought a lot of "stuff" with us that we really don't need. The swap is a great way to pass it around. Plus, once it's taken out of the attic it never goes back. Therefore, if no one wants your stuff it makes it's way to Goodwill. One week a friend, who is moving to VA brought a list of furniture she didn't need. I had a baker's rack and she had a computer table. She needed my rack and I needed her table. We made a nice swap.

How cool is this? Love the idea. I'll be moving to a new gated seniors community soon (don't laugh...I "ain't" the seniors type...but... It is what it is.... so... me and my toe rings and ankle bracelets and 65 year old body will be meeting new people...and this is a great idea for me to save for future use... besides..we all have "stuff" we'd like to ditch or trade..right?

It is a good idean you posted here. Many people need the things that others are throwing out. I know personally I find many things I can use at yard sales and all. I would love a morning coffee group like you described here.
