The banks are nothing more than legalized mafia. In fact, I accused a credit card representative of being part of the mafia. They rose my interest rate to a ridiculous rate when I was in the hospital & late on my payment for the first time ever. They refused to reverse their decision.

We the people do allow things to go on - to the point they become destructive. It is when we are safe in our homes, talking to our spouse maybe, when we feel brave enough to take on The Man.

As I was reading the article I was jolted by the similarity of the North American situation and most third world countries. My opinion is that North America is finally experiencing what most third world economies have been experiencing for years. You're right, the people give the power away by either trust or lack of inclusion on how their money is spent. Result? well you said it.....

I think you left out the role the media plays in this. Notice the stream of bad-to-worse news streaming across the idiot-box.

For the political and financial socialists know that one way to keep the population in line is with fear. And there is plenty of it to go around.

It keeps the populations at large hunkered down, and unable to organize in any way that will bring effect. The days of lords and ladies are upon us once more, and those with power and wealth can only want one thing...more.

I have to agree with Randall. We go with the power we have, support the good person we have, Obama. It is our responsibility and hope.

It's difficult to motivate the masses, but Obama has done it fairly well.

I'm not at all sure the masses of the democraty really elected our former president. The Court did the first time and the votes in Ohio were never challenged and thus examined the second time.

You return to the question: is democraty really that good?
Democraty, where each person has one and only one voice?
I agree with you, that such democraty is BAD thing.
But what better do we have?
You are right - the masses are lead. (Sometimes to slaughterhouse though)
That's why there are Leaders that not necessary are good for masses or country - recolect Duce (leader in Italian) or Führer (leader in German).

You show us a very painful picture of our mindless surrender.
Is there any solution?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Reg,my friend. You have always been on the mark. Where I am now, a Monarch lives revered by the people- the good, and the bad. Like everywhere else, the people are scared and suffering. But they have hope because the Monarch is there. They are waiting for him to speak. And when he does, every one, and I mean every single one listens, and follows.

You show here how the truth hurts. I was saying the past 5 years that Bush didn't vote himself into office. Wonder who did? Still, let's be optimistic. Let's work together and try to 'encourage' Obama. (He's gonna need it as more time passes)
