Fraternal Life! 

   I first met John Gagliardi when I tried to get a press interview with him in the 70s. He welcome the interview and tried to sell me insurance which he did on the side after the football season.

I later took hi s advice and purchased Catholic Fraternal life from the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Catholic Slovak of New Prague, Degree of Honor of St. Paul. I now hold policies with Catholic Financial of Milwaukee.

Insurance Salesman Invitation!  

     Later, Dick and Fran Hope Insurance Company persons From Larpenteur an Insurance and Clothing Company Family  in St Paul invited me to attend the St John’s Carleton game at Carleton. We brown bagged it. At Melvin Laird Field in the refractory I ran into  a Carleton student drug deal. This did not look well for Carleton for Homecoming. Then, the North-field town pump ran naked through the town and campus. The game at Melvin Laird Field was tense. It tended to get tenser. In the final quarter SJU fell from behind. John Gagliardi made a dramatic change and shift in the quarterback. He put in a Mid sized sized quarterback with the name of Doherty. All the Gagliardi signatures  came into play, the extensive student  alumni team Benedictine mentors, the loose large huddle, the call from the sideline to the huddle and the effort for no injuries. The Quarter did a Signature gun slinger “James Brothers”  shoulder  pass against the Carleton end zone which connected. And

Carleton was left in homecoming tears on Melvin Laird field and in Northfield.
