“BLACK HAWK DOWN” RANGER’S WIFE DEBUTS NOVEL OF RESILIENCE AND COMMITMENT

Calli Coleman, a classically trained musician from a well-connected Baltimore family, has no idea what’s in store for her when her soldier-husband, Luke, is recalled to an infantry unit during the Iraq War.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL  (Sept. 15, 2015) — Tori Eversmann, wife of the Army Ranger who inspired the lead character in “Black Hawk Down,” shares the captivating and heart-warming story of a wife who unexpectedly becomes a military spouse in her debut novel, “The Immortals.”

Eversmann’s semi-autobiographical character, Calli Coleman, abruptly lands in the role of Army wife in provincial Sackets Harbor, New York, when her husband is recalled to active military duty during the Iraq War. Calli and her young family face the adversity of transitioning to their new military life and the complicated social hierarchy that goes with it. Uprooted from their hometown, family and friends, their new life as an Army family becomes even more unsettling when Calli learns that her husband will soon be deployed to Iraq.

“New friendships sustain Calli through loneliness and the ever-present specter of widowhood. ‘The Immortals’ is an examination of marriage, friendship, war and death,” said Eversmann.

The novel explores the unlikely friendships that evolve between women from different backgrounds who are thrown together and bond with one another for courage and support. Together they embark upon emotional journeys to visit severely wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

About the Author:  Tori Eversmann, wife of retired First Sergeant Matt Eversmann, the soldier who inspired the lead character in the book and movie Black Hawk Down, has captivating stories of her time as an Army wife and its aftermath in the post-9-/11 world. Amid adversity, Tori worked tirelessly as a single parent, a cheerleader for her husband’s wounded men at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and as a conduit of information from the front lines during her husband’s 15-month deployment in the Iraq war, all to keep her and the other Army wives afloat. Tori received her B.A. in English/Creative Writing from Skidmore College and currently lives in West Palm Beach with her husband, daughter, two dogs and two cats.
