Summary:	A book signing and fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Nevada will be held Saturday afternoon, May 12, at BooksOrBooks in Las Vegas. Featuring six local authors, I'll be showcasing my Civil War novel 'Blessed Shadows Dark and Deep.'
Details:	This coming Saturday will mark the third time that I’ll be a participant in a book-signing benefit at BooksOrBooks in Las Vegas. These book-signing get-togethers at the bookstore don’t just give authors a chance to sign and sell books; they also are a fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Nevada. Alzheimer’s touches all of us. Nearly two decades ago my mother’s best friend Pat suffered from the disease. As a reporter in Central Florida 30 years ago, I did a series of feature stories on Alzheimer’s, following a Lake County couple as they dealt with the life changes the disease brought to their lives. In this case, the caregiver was the husband. In addition to me, five local authors will be at BooksOrBooks from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. They are: * Nancy Nelson, author of ‘Blue. River. Apple,’ a continuing exploration of Alzheimer’s through poetry. Her book chronicles two years’ worth of Nancy’s ever-changing feelings, frustrations, and the joy she’s learned to extract from a diagnosis of early on-set Alzheimer’s. * C.J. Fox, author of ‘Friday Bloody Friday,’ a mystery thriller. Noa Simmons stumbles upon a lost phone and receives a suspicious offer: be a contestant on a reality TV gameshow. After it begins, he thinks he's communicating with the Angel Maker, a Bay Area serial killer. Will he win the chess match or will the bodies continue to pile up? * S.H. Montgomery, author of ‘Whisper in the Blood,’ a historical fiction novel set in Chicago in the early 20th century. The novel entwines two immigrant families, one from Ireland, the other from Sicily. * Stephen Murray, author of ‘The Chapel of Eternal Love: Wedding Stories from Las Vegas.’ Spend a day with Rosemary, the wedding organizer, and her pet dachshund at the fictional Las Vegas chapel. * Lauren Tallman, author of ‘How to have an Affair and Not Get Caught.’ Lauren’s book is filled with stories that will enlighten and step-by-step facts designed to significantly reduce the chances of getting caught. If an affair is inevitable, she wants to guide the journey to ensure it’s a safe and beneficial one. And lest we forget, the last one – my tale, ‘Blessed Shadows Dark and Deep,’ a historical fiction novel set during the Civil War. Told he could only court his hometown girl if he enlists, teenager Bill Stamford joins the Confederate Army and experiences the battlefield horrors of Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. While tending to his dying friend in a plantation barn, Bill meets a volunteer nurse who will change the course of his life. BooksOrBooks is located in a strip shopping center at 3460 E.
