The Upper Peninsula of Michigan Writers Association awarded Harley L. Sachs its lifetime achievement award at the annual meeting on October 12, 2002.
"I'm touched and honored," Sachs said upon receiving the award, a handsome plaque."I thought these things were usually given out on one's deathbed. I hope that's not the case." Sachs has b een a steadfast member of UP Writers since the 1970s and at various times has held all the elected offices.
