I'm starting a revolution. In our efforts (to be celebrated, by the way) in scientifically understanding how children learn to read and how they grow as readers, we have inadvertently widened the gap between those who teach in our schools and the literacy experience at home. In many cases, it has alientated families from participating in their children's literacy instead of working on partnership.
