When published authors spend years creating compelling stories, only to face the publishing agendas of major publishers with two-year production schedules already in place, there is only one sensible avenue to take and that is to release all new stories in eBooks for avid readers to enjoy ‘the thrill of escape’ that only great fiction can deliver.

When Max Overton was asked his opinion on the publishing world of today this is what he had to say, “Words are cheap for major publishers today, but never for authors who sweat and bleed to give birth to any new book. Authors hear the words, ‘You are a great writer but…’ and there is always a ‘but’... But unless major publishers can see an immediate profit from the launch of any new book they don’t seem interested in the quality of storytelling or the story plot. Profit is the determining factor for major publishers while self-promotion by the author is the long-term expectations to fuel those high profit margins from a limited shelf-life. The expectations by publishers of authors far surpasses the true nature of this solitary creature.”
Max Overton went on to say, “Authors are starting to realize that there is no need to be discouraged any more, the internet is open to all authors while social networking reaches millions in seconds. The argument that quality is only found within traditional publishing is nonsense. I’ve picked up print books from major publishers that are atrociously edited and also seen beautiful works of creativity emerge from small e-publishing houses. I still like to hold a print book in my hands but I also read eBooks from Kindle and iPods. Any publisher who relies solely on print books in this technology driven age is doomed. As the old guard of readers dies off younger generations of high-teck readers will take over, and print books will one day be relegated to specialist libraries.”
An exciting era for the publishing industry has emerged. Social networking is only a news flash away for the world so why not for new stories by authors that bring the greatest of pleasure to the human race.
