The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. Jesus used this spiritual weapon when tempted by Satan in the desert. Each time Satan attempted to deliver a blow, Jesus blocked the attack with the Word of God by quoting scripture.

Using a sword is something that takes time and practice. A soldier must
practice using his sword to defeat his enemy. In order to use your sword, you must also practice and use it. That means being in the Word every day and knowing what is says.
