Handerspoon Cove, a fictional town on the North Atlantic coast. Residents of the town soon began to experience many strange things. Deaths they can't explain and it keeps the local sheriff busy. A local girl Judith Keith is also curious about what's going on and begins investigating. Is there a curse on the town? What is going on?

Two boys rode their bikes along a quiet beach. They were planning to meet with some friends, but it was getting dark and they decided to go home. They believed their friends had given up on them and left.
“They’re long gone. We may as well go on back." One of the boys said
As they rode their bikes back up the beach, red eyes glowed from the darkness of the rocks, watching them leave.
Centuries ago, at this very place, there lived a strange tribe of people who were ruled by a wild-eyed gypsy woman. Their ways were strange and often some of them were burned at stake if they broke the rules of the tribe. Ruling with her was a red bearded sea captain who often left for months, sometimes longer. It was evident some of the members of the tribe descended from the captain, especially one of the young women. Although her skin was dark, she had glorious red hair. The red haired young woman was very powerful in the occult, and often used her powers against the other tribesmen if they crossed her. One dark moonless night they grabbed her from her hut and burned her at stake, but as she was burning she screamed the most hideous screams that chilled them to the bone. She screamed curses against the whole tribe and their descendants that might live here in the years to come. Some said that as she was burning, the shadow of a huge black bird arose from the flames.
Ornithos
Ornithos are one of many Greek words for Ornithology, the study of birds. I won’t go into the rest of the definitions. Man has been interested in birds for centuries. They fascinate us to no end. We watch them soar through the skies and wish that we could fly like them. Aircraft has been built to resemble birds of prey with their many abilities and have come close, but still can’t imitate them perfectly. Birds of prey are the most intriguing. Mythical tales have been told throughout the centuries about bizarre bird-like creatures that flew through our heavens. Strange, scary creatures that resembled birds, but were far more dangerous.
Our story tells of such a creature that may have existed from early times, but who really knows? Does the creature exist, or is he or she just part of your imagination? You’ll have to read the story to make up your own mind.
In the deepening twilight, high on the cliffs overlooking the tumultuous ocean, she sat. She opened her enormous beak in a huge yawn, exposing her razor sharp teeth as her blood-red bejeweled eyes rapidly surveyed her environment. She daintily preened herself and shifted her ample body slightly and settled on the precipitous drop-off and calmly watched the ocean as birds flew by her. But she paid no special attention to them, as she seemed to be waiting for something specific. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. She had spotted something that interested her. Giving a gentle lift from her perch, she soared gracefully into the sky, heading for the ocean. Soon, she was but a black speck in the darkening sky.
