Colors of Autumn

Black stands solid where once sunshine reigned.

the dawn arises a little later each day

as darkness fades and sun shines bright

the beginning of day the end of night.

Gray streaks shaped like clouds

hovering over the river which flows through the next valley

creating driving hazards as we near

the befogged road that we all fear.

Yellowed leaves, reddened trees, limbs of Orange

Green of pine which stubbornly refuses to change

and the sun comes over the mountain

spewing out light like a lava fountain.

sunglasses hide the eyes from the rays

of sun filled daylight shining into the eyes

sunglasses also refuse to release to the world about

the tears of joy that try to escape with glorious shout.
