Nov. 13 , MACHIAS, Maine – The Maine Writers Series at the University of Maine at Machias will host poets Michael Brown and Valerie Lawson for a reading at 7 p.m. Brown and Lawson are known for promoting the poetry slam, a competition in which authors read or recite original works.
          Together, Brown and Lawson co-edit the poetry journal Off the Coast, and teach poetry workshops and classes at the Cobscook Community Learning Center and the Sunrise Senior College at UMM.
The reading will take place in UMM’s Book Arts Studio, located in Dorward Hall. The event is free and open to the public.    For more information, contact Robert Froese at 255-1334.

There is the loneliness of peopled places:
