May 1 Washington,DC Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey will conclude her year as U.S. Poet Laureate with a lecture on "Necessary Utterance: Poetry as Cultural Force" at 7 p.m., Trethewey will introduce the afternoon program at 4 p.m. The award-winning poets will include Marilyn Chin, Brenda Shaughnessy, Patricia Smith, Brian Turner and Kevin Young.
