Oops....missed the PSNH meeting today...had some problems last night

Events:
April 27, Rochester, The Greater Rochester Authors’ Fair will take place in the large meeting room of Rochester Public Library, from 10:20 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Rochester Times Editor John Nolan who is organizing the event in conjunction along with a committee assembled by Rochester Main Street’s Mike Provost. The event, emceed by Provost, will start that morning at 10:20 a.m. with a welcome, and introductory remarks given by the mayor, after which Chairman of the Library Board of Trustees Pam Hubbard will introduce the first of three panels of authors. Later she will field questions and comments from the audience. April 27 Manchester, Poetry Society of NH Quarterly Meeting. Manchester Public Library. Bring a poem or two to read during the Open Mic portion from 11am-12pm. Then, at noon, The Feature poet, musician David Killam. Walking Away

It is eighteen years ago, almost to the day –
A sunny day with leaves just turning,
The touch-lines new-ruled – since I watched you play
Your first game of football, then, like a satellite
Wrenched from its orbit, go drifting away

Behind a scatter of boys. I can see
You walking away from me towards the school
With the pathos of a half-fledged thing set free
Into a wilderness, the gait of one
Who finds no path where the path should be.

That hesitant figure, eddying away
Like a winged seed loosened from its parent stem,
Has something I never quite grasp to convey
About nature’s give-and-take – the small, the scorching
Ordeals which fire one’s irresolute clay.

I have had worse partings, but none that so
Gnaws at my mind still. Perhaps it is roughly
Saying what God alone could perfectly show –
How selfhood begins with a walking away,
And love is proved in the letting go.

Angels' Flight

There are angels who are destined
to fly downward into the dark mists.

Often, they get caught there,
and for a time, they lose their wings,
and they are lost,
sometimes for nearly a lifetime.

It doesn't really matter, they are still angels;
angels never die.

They know that the mist will clear someday,
if only for a moment.
And they know that they will be reclaimed then,
at last,
by a golden sky.
