Biography
Bud''s life so far.

Bud Queen was born on March 18, 1943 in Atlanta and is a lifelong Georgia resident who moved from Cobb to Monroe County in 1998. He married Niki Collins-Queen a Licensed Professional Counselor and author in 1998. They live in a log cabin near Forsyth, Georgia and travel the U.S. in their RV.

He served as a contacting officer for the Department of Defense and the Georgia National Guard for 36 years. He attended accounting, business law, contracts and administration classes at St. Leo College.

He is an avid deer hunter, community service volunteer and environmentalist. He served on the Monroe County Greenspace Committee to protect the county's natural wetlands, waterways and air quality in the late 90s. The committee secured a number of wetlands along the Ocmulgee and Towaliga River for parks.

He is a Middle Georgia Director for the Georgia DNR’s Rivers Alive Program and an Adopt-A-Stream board certified Chemical trainer in the Upper Ocmulgee River watershed. He assists in the teaching and monitoring of river sites and received the Georgia River Network’s “Volunteer of the Year” Award in 2006.

He served as President of the High Falls Towaliga Watershed Alliance from 2007 to 2010, as chairman of the water quality committee from 2005 to 2007 and on the Board of Directors since the group started in 2005. He founded the “Friends of High Falls State Park” in 2012 and currently serves as President.

He has been a member of the Georgia Wilderness Society (GWS) since 1996, served as president in 2002, Vice President in 2000 and in 2005 and on the board of directors from 2003 to 2013. He received the GWS Gene Espy award in 2003 and 2005 for outstanding community service.

Bud has two children, Buddy and Karen Queen and two grandchildren, Drew and Kesley.
