First, I want to conngratulate the six finalists in the Julius Thompson 2010 Fall Writing Contest: Melissa Hampton, Victor Allen, Malinda Mitchell, Brian K. Liddy, Priscilla Y. Hill and Jenna Kanell.
These six finalists composed a short-short fiction piece (400 words) with the topic: “A change that happened in a character’s life.”
Finally, after six weeks of reading the entries over and over again, the winner is Victor Allen for his short-short story, "The Drink"
This was a tremendous contest with some fantastic entries with great characterization, description, setting and all the elements in great storytelling.
As far as I'm concerned all are winners and deserve recognition for their tremendous writing talent.
Victor Allen will receive: Choice of an autograph copy of A Brownstone in Brooklyn or Philly Style and Philly Profile or if he can wait a copy of Ghost of Atlanta upon publication the first week of January 2011!
