Carol Bland Dolson was awarded Finalist honors at the 49th annual Georgia Author of the Year Awards for her book Hattie and the Higgledy-Piggledy Hedge (Jonquil Books, 2012).
Presented by the Georgia Writers Association, the Georgia Author of the Year Awards "recognize Georgia's authors of excellence" and have the distinction of being the oldest literary awards in the Southeastern United States.
One of the judges of this year's awards said this about Hattie and the Higgledy-Piggledy Hedge: "The story holds the reader's attention from the beginning to the surprise ending. This is a well written and well illustrated book that will engage the younger readers."
