I'm stuck! I have over 36,000 words on the page for my new novel, ARGO. It seemed to be going well, but when I looked over it last night, I simply did not like it.
The basic premise - an old man, sick and dying, travels across the country in an attempt to reconnect with his former wife - seems to work. But the words on the page are wrong.
This is a purely visceral reaction. I'm going to draw back, maybe go for a long drive and see if I can resolve this. I have some serious health issues and I know I won't be here much longer; I really want to finish this, and finish WEATHERMAKER and another that came out of the ARGO process.
And then there's BEAVER TALES, a personal recollection of my time as a US forest ranger and foreman of a wild land fire fighting crew. I've outlined this but I don't have anything beyond that.
I don't do the holidays, so I should have some free time to concentrate on all this.
Stay tuned!
