"Butterfly Lake starts with a bang and never lets up. The two Vietnam vets are awesome characters, and I rooted for them the whole time. Bad things happen, but not as bad as it could have been, so you're left with a good feeling at the end of the book. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a short thriller.
Robert Saniscalchi gives us a great reading in Freedom’s Light. It’s not an easy story to go through as it deals with raw human emotions that are triggered by tragic events. This book specifically links the world before and after 9/11 and how that changed our perception of war and good and evil. The story goes through with the war in Afghanistan and Iraq and how that affects thousands (millions?) of lives not only in that zone of the world. It’s not only a war book. It’s about feelings and perceptions, family, friendship, and love. How one event can turn our world upside down in just one minute. It’s touching and heart-breaking and Saniscalchi offers the readers a brilliant piece of writing and storytelling. Sometimes, a book gives us not what we want but what we need. And that’s when the magic happens. Freedom’s Light is that good and you won’t regret it. I’ll surely check the other books by this author
